Double success for up and coming local apprentice.

Kurtis Tovey, a third year site carpenter apprentice with local company anthony a davies ltd was awarded a double accolade at last weeks Usk and Pontypool campus awards evening.

Kurtis won the Coleg Gwent wood occupations achievement award across all three years of the course and then went on to win the Gwent construction training group award for outstanding achievement covering all building trades across all three years.

He was presented on the evening with certificates, a commemorative plate and £100 gift voucher for purchases at Robert Price builders merchants.

Anthony Davies, managing director of the company who attended the awards said “the company as a whole is very proud of Kurtis and his achievements.

He won a prize last year and has also been selected, along with our bench joiner apprentice, Lloyd Daniels to represent Wales at the national skills build competition, if they are successful they will go on to represent Great Britain internationally.

Kurtis is extremely committed and is going to further his education by going on to study a BTEC in construction at Pontypool college”

Well done to Lloyd Daniels, a 3rd year apprentice in our joinery workshop for coming 3rd place in the Regional Skills Competition Wales on the 4th March
